In a desperate attempt to keep the girl next to her, Chloe asked, “So do you live around here?” Something urged her to pull her in and never let her go. She felt a connection to the stranger in front of her. Baxter here doesn’t like to listen to me,” Chloe motioned to the golden retriever as she grabbed his blue collar and clipped it back around his neck. I’m still getting used to having a puppy. She shook her head and blinked at the girl, wide-eyed. “You’re okay, right?” Chloe stared into the girl's deep brown eyes with her mouth agape and feeling like a swarm of butterflies entered her stomach. “I’m sorry I didn’t see you,” She explained frantically (and beautifully). The girl swung open her car door and rushed towards Chloe and Baxter. It was the same who had almost ended her life. A really pretty girl with long, brown hair and beautiful eyes. As she peered into the car, Chloe noticed the most life-changing thing she had seen in 16 years. Baxter wiggled in her arms, trying to escape back onto the street. Heart pounding, Chloe looked up at the beaten-up SUV that was mere feet away from her, its headlights flashing into her eyes. Chloe Stephens was sure that her life would never be the same after she almost got hit by a car approximately 2 weeks after moving to San Francisco.
